who we are
Our volunteers have similar roots as to how they came together as a group to participate in blitz build projects.
In 1995, Honeywell International Inc. established a partnership with Habitat for Humanity consisting of financial, in-kind donations, and volunteer support of Honeywell employees from around the world. Honeywell built 24 homes for Habitat over the next 5 years. The last Blitz Build was in 2003 as Honeywell redirected it’s volunteerism to different charitable organizations and groups. The Blitz Home Builders organization was formed by a dedicated group of volunteers that wanted to continue the tradition of the annual blitz build. In 2004, our first year as Blitz Home Builders, we built 3 homes in Madison, WI. We have continued building homes each year at an average of 3 homes per year and to date have built 75 homes. In April 2015 we decided to formalize our organization. Our articles of incorporation were approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission forming Blitz Home Builders, Inc. as a non-profit company. In February 2016 we were approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) corporation. Every year between Blitz Builds, the volunteers spend considerable time supporting their hometown affiliates and further developing their skills. Many of the volunteers have participated in most of the builds since 1996. A great sense of camaraderie and teamwork has developed over the years resulting in a very close-knit team of dedicated and experienced volunteers. BHB continues to welcome new partnering opportunities as well as new volunteers to participate in future blitz builds.
