House #61: Massi and Hila Faizee have one daughter, Helena. Massi spent 6 years as an interpreter assisting the US Army, and chose to relocate to Fargo because of a relative who had been living here for 10 years and spoke highly of the area. House #62: Ayan Santur and Abdikadir Mohamud have three daughters, and are anxious to move from their current living environment that harbored neighborhood parties, smoking, garbage and alcohol. House #63: Alakiir Nhial is a single mother of five. Two of her children suffer from allergies, one was born with a disability and another has diabetes. She is anxious to provide her family with safe, affordable housing. Greetings Blitz Home Builders, The dates have been set and registration is now open for the 2019 Blitz Build in West Fargo, North Dakota.
The local Habitat staff has been working hard to plan this event. The lots have been identified and purchased. Families have been chosen. The construction plans are in process. We will be building under the theme of “Dakota Blitz 3:10 Three Homes: Ten Days.” The high temperature during the build should be in the 80’s with the low temperature around 60 degrees. The Hector International Airport in Fargo is served by Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier and United Airlines. Registrations will be handled electronically through our website. This will be the only way to register for this build. Please go to our website at www.BlitzHomeBuilders.org., then to the West Fargo build page on the Blitz Home Builders website, click the Register Now button, fill out the registration form and pay the registration fee using PayPal. Remember, you must specifically register for the West Fargo build and pay the registration fee in order to guarantee lodging and have a spot at the build. If you want to register for someone else (e.g., spouse, friend, partner, etc.), you will need to go to the Blitz Home Builders website and register them separately in their name and pay the registration fee. You will be sent an invoice from PayPal for lodging in April. We must receive your build registration by April 4, and lodging must be paid by May 16 Past experience has shown you should plan on approximately $25-$30 per person per day for food. Breakfast will be provided at the hotel, and lunches and snacks at the construction site will be provided at no charge. Updates with further details on housing, meals, travel, etc. will be posted on our website when they are available – so check back often. We will also help you in sharing rides, airport pick up, etc. The Habitat Affiliate does not allow persons under the age of 16 to participate in the build. Persons 16 and 17 years of age will require a parent’s/guardian’s signature on the waiver form and will be restricted in the type of tasks they are permitted to perform (e.g., no power tools, ladders, or roof access). Planning these events takes a lot of time and effort by the Planning Committee. One of the first things we need to know is how many volunteers will be attending in order for us to arrange for lodging, meals, venues, caterers, and, yes, even the construction materials and tools.
