[April, 13 2009] Lodging Fees Due
Rockford BlitzBuild lodging payment due May 15th.
The 2009 Blitz Home Builder's store is now OPEN. You must complete payment for housing by MAY 15th in order to confirm your hotel reservations. Please sign in with your own username and password to make your payment. If you wish to pay for someone else's fees, you need to log in with their username and password. Prior to making payment, please make sure the number of nights listed for you is correct. The nightly fee for the hotel is $34/night/person. Your registration fee includes $24 toward lodging, which is accounted for in the store. [Nov 2008] Blitzbuild 2009 Preliminary Information
It’s official, the Blitz Build for 2009 is in Rockford, Illinois.The Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity is very excited to host this blitz build and would like us to build 3 houses with them. That will depend on the number of registrations we receive.
Based on the comments from our last several builds, we are adding a full day of construction to the schedule this year. The dates for the build are Thursday, June 18th through Saturday, June 27th. Sunday the 21st will be a day off. There will be some final cleanup and a dedication ceremony on the morning of Saturday the 27th. House Leads and Crew Leads are invited to be on site Wednesday the 17th to assist in getting ready for the build. The Blitz Home Builders annual meeting event will be on Wednesday, June 24th.
The major Chicago airports (O’Hare and Midway) serve the Rockford area. Scheduled bus service using long haul busses is available from both airports to/from downtown Rockford for less than $50 round trip.
As in past years, we will be requiring a non-refundable $70 registration fee for each participant. This will be applied to a portion of your hotel expense, an event T-Shirt, the Wednesday meeting event, and some administrative costs necessary to make this event happen. Registrations will again be handled electronically through our Web site, http://www.blitzhomebuilders.org/builds/Rockford09. This will be the only way to register for the this build. If you do not already have your user ID and password, be sure to request one on the log in page. Remember, you must specifically register for Rockford build in order to have a guaranteed spot at the build and a room at the hotel. You will have the option to pay registration fees online using the PayPal secure transaction servers. You do not need to have a PayPal account in order to pay by credit card. Using this feature will immediately guarantee your registration and help us deal more efficiently with the shear volume of work that needs to be done. We would like your registration for the build completed by Sunday, February 1st, 2009. Space may be limited, so registrations will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. You are not registered until we have received your registration fees.
Planning these events takes a lot of time and effort on the part of the Planning Committee. One of the first things we need to know is how many volunteers will be attending in order for us to continue the planning process for lodging, meals, and even construction materials.
We have not found a source of grant money to reduce lodging expenses this year as we did last year. We will be staying at the Cliffbreakers Hotel in Rockford, Illinois. The room rate is expected to be approximately $35 per person per night, double occupancy. This will include a continental breakfast, in-room Wi-Fi internet connection, and access to the Blitz Home Builders’ hospitality room. You should plan on approximately $10 per person per day for food. We are working with Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity to get some of our meals provided through donations from local businesses and organizations.

Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity does not allow persons under the age of 16 to participate in the build. Persons 16 and 17 years of age will require a parent’s signature on the waiver form and will be restricted in the type of tasks they are permitted to perform (i.e., using power tools and/or being on the roof).
